Rabbit Diaries | Monday Garden Shoutout: July 30, 2012

Dappled Willow rabbit damageGood evening! It’s about 80 degrees and a lot less humid than the afternoon; the forecast is predicting lots of heat and humidity to come.  For now, as you can see, the rabbits have won. I hate covering up the landscape with ugly steel cages, but this new bed of plants was getting eaten alive.

The rest of the garden is thriving. Here is a phlox plant that the rabbits have managed to avoid:

The Trumpet Creeper Vine is just starting to bloom;  I don’t see many buds this year.

The Snakeroot (Black Cohosh) is getting ready to flower: I’ll post an update when it blooms.

The basil plants love this heat; I’ll be harvesting a bunch this week for homemade ravioli.

Some of the ferns are hanging on; over 50% were burned out weeks ago. The caladium looks content.

That’s it for today. What’s blooming in your garden?
