Perfecting The Perimeter Garden
John Conti
We're all familiar with the perimeter garden. Many of us inherited them when we purchased our home. Outside of a childrens' play room, we rarely see all of the furniture and decorations moved to the edges of the room.
Step 1. Carefully remove any plants or structures that might get in the way. You can re-use the plants after your beds are finished.

Step 2. On the left side bed, dig out the curved shape shown above. It may help to think of it as 1/3 of a circle. I started this one slightly above the mid point. Just make sure that it's off center. We're going for an assymetrical look.

Step 3.Starting at the bottom of the right side bed, dig out the same shape of a slightly different size. We don't want them to match. Above, I used a slightly larger one than before.
The design used in this article is a simple way to add interest and natural shapes to your landscape-while allowing an ample unobstructed path for traffic.
