Growing Hops

Caldera_IPA_hopsSorry to disappoint, but this post isn’t really about growing hops: not yet, anyway… Every time I taste another amazing west coast IPA, I dream about growing hops. My treat and recommendation for today comes from Caldera Brewing Company in Ashland, Oregon. It’s called Caldera IPA. The hops are magnificent: citrus, floral, and pine flavors. I can taste the sunshine.

A sincere thank you goes out to my brother-in-law Andy; he brought a box of assorted ales back from his recent beach vacation. Within a mix of new names, I found the Caldera.

Now, I wanna’ grow some hops. How ’bout you?

I grow a Golden Hops here on the shores of Lake Michigan, but I will be honest, I have not tried making beer – yet! I just like the vines and the color of the leaves. A good beer while watching the lake would be nice. Jack
